A red short skirt

From Patrones 279 is a lovely short skirt pattern from Designer Drykorn :

a lined skirt with :

- separately belt
- pleat in the midle (frontpiece)
- and a zip at the side.

Here are the instructions ... in spanish :-(

I can't spanisch but it seemed not too difficult to put the pieces together...

I bought for a long time one meter red fabric ... perfect for this skirt!

It's a light wool fabric with 4% elasthan.

I found in Cologne (in Germany) in a little but wonderful shop named "Plissée Becker" these unique buttons!!!

and here are the shoes who go fortuitous with the skirt! :-)

Skirt finished!

belt details:
Top-stitch on the belt pieces and on the loops

Skirt on me!

and here with the shoes :-)

At first I though I would make the skirt longer but I finally cut it like the pattern ...
so... a little bit sexy :-)

The Tartan skirt

I've found this old fabric by my mother again...
She wanted to sew then a skirt for me with it...
when I was 17 :-)

But this kind of fabric will be always trendy I think!

I had one yard of this tartan fabric, so I could sew a skirt with it.

And I wanted to sew a simple skirt and I used this pattern from Patrones issue N° 295

I love the colors combination from the fabric :

A grey underground with orange and yellow squares.

With this picture we can see it better

I only made the skirt :

- a lined short skirt with a pleat at the middle

- front und back darts

- no belt, only front and back facing belts.

I used a rest of orange lining, it looks like very good with the fabric!
I love this combination!!!

But ...

              Here is the skirt.

I think the skirt don't look like the pattern picture!

I thought it would be a skirt with a slight flare...

hmm, but it's rather straight.. :-((

I'm wearing it with a short sweater and grey boots, it looks like younger... :-(

I only made one alternation : I made it 2 inches longer the the pattern ...  but it's not the reason why the skirt is straight:-(

It'a an easy skirt pattern but I don't like how the skirt fits :-(

I sew the lining with the fabric together...

Do you think, I would have to sew the pieces apart?
Perhaps it would change the fit from the skirt???

Another skirt for the last summer days .. :-)

I have almost straight skirts and I wanted to wear something different ... casual skirts for exemple and I found this pattern by Patrones  :

Issue 294 , skirt N°25

with pleats, loops at the waisband and zipper on the side.

The pleats are the same front and back.

I had a cotton fabric in a grey-brown color, perfect for a skirt in combination with colored tops!

I used biais tape to finish the waisband inside.
I 'm very happy with this finition. It looks like very "clean" :-)

The summer came again for a short time ... so I can wear it yet :-)

A bizzare pattern for skirt

Wen I became the Patrones issue 285 I wanted at first to sew the top.

I found a white light cotton fabric for this but it 's too heavy for the front details  :-(

It doesn't matter, I like the skirt too!

I needed a brown skirt, so I decided to sew this skirt in brown : like the view with a satin cotton fabric with elasthan.

I find the details at the belt side with flaps so cute and the two pleats give the skirt a casual touch.

I finished the belt seam with bias tape for the first time.
I choose a satin bias in a light rose color.

It's not perfect sewed, but for the first time , it's OK! :-)
The skirt is fortunately easy to sew, because I can't read Spanish :-)
But I must made some alterations :
  • I graduate into a size 38 (US size 10) ; the issue propose the pattern in sizes 40, 44 and 48
  • I must take the belt in : one inch at both side, because it's was too wide!
  • and I made the finished detail with bias tape at the belt seam.

But the result looks so disappointing !!

On the side view the skirt looks like normal, but on the front view you can't see the both flaps at the belt. They are too small!
I checked the pattern over again. Perhaps I cut the flaps wrong?
No, the flaps are the same whatever the skirt size.
Hum... but I made the skirt in size 38...
What size is the model skirt??? We can see on the issue view the both flaps!

I would have made the flaps longer, but I didn't seen this, only when I tried the skirt.
I will wear the skirt but it's not so cute than I thought it would be :-(
